Side Job Tips

Find something you enjoy.  Taking on a side job can add strain to your already hectic teaching job.  Finding something you enjoy will make it seem as though you are not even working.  Remember, no extra stress needed!

Find a job with a flexible schedule.  The easiest way to achieve this is to be your own boss.  You make the schedule!  If you decide to work for a company, try to find a position that compliments your work schedule.  It could be something as simple as working at a bookstore part-time 4 days a week.

Business Promotion Tips

Web Ad Sites

An easy and free way to advertise your business is to post ads on www.Craigslist.org and www.BackPage.com They are the internets version of classified ads.

Create a Website

I highly recommend creating a website to promote your business or services.  There are many options available when choosing a webhost.  If you are not familiar with creating a website, visit www.2CreateAWebsite.com & www.WebsiteBabble.com to get tips and advice on web development.  This website is hosted by www.ipower.com

Networking

An alternative to building a website is to create a www.MySpace.com and/or www.Facebook.com profile.  They are both free and are great for networking.  You should base your profile on your business.   Explain what you have to offer, show pictures of your work (if applicable), and use your logo as your profile picture.

Video

A video is another great tool you can use to promote your business and services.  Sites such as www.YouTube.com and www.MySpace.com allow you to upload videos for free.  Be sure the video is of good quality, professional, and to the point.  The video can be created using Windows Movie Maker and easily uploaded to You Tube or Myspace.

Business Cards

Everyone should have a business card!  Your card should have an attractive design, your contact information, and your website address.  I usually purchase my cards through www.VistaPrint.com They offer great printing for a great price.

Pay-Per-Click

GoogleAds offers businesses the opportunity to create an ad that is posted on relevant websites.  Each time someone clicks on your ad, you pay a regulated fee to Google.  Go to Google Ads for more information.
